Wanda "Woo Woo" Jett lived a life defined by dedication, generosity, faith, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. A proud graduate of West Memphis High School, Wanda became one of Arkansas's most accomplished and respected amateur golfers while remaining deeply devoted to her family, friends, church, and community.
Throughout her distinguished golfing career, Wanda earned numerous championships and accolades. She served as President of the Arkansas Women's Golf Association (AWGA) in 1983 and remained an active member for more than 35 years. Her competitive accomplishments included winning the Arkansas Stroke Play Championship, multiple Little Rock Women's City Championships, numerous Maumelle Country Club Ladies Club Championships, and several State Couple and Mixed Couples Championships alongside her husband. In recognition of her service and contributions to the game, Wanda was inducted into the AWGA Distinguished Service Award/Hall of Distinction in 2014.
While her success on the golf course was remarkable, those who knew Wanda remember her most for the way she treated others. A woman of deep faith and a devoted member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, she generously gave her time and talents to countless organizations and causes. Her kindness, warmth, and genuine concern for others left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Wanda believed in hard work, perseverance, community involvement, and helping others reach their potential. She led by example, demonstrating that true success is measured not only by personal achievement but also by the positive difference we make in the lives of others.
The Wanda Jett Memorial Scholarship was established to honor her legacy by supporting students who exemplify the same values of academic achievement, leadership, character, service, and community involvement. Through this scholarship, Wanda's spirit of generosity and encouragement continues to inspire future generations to pursue their goals while making meaningful contributions to their communities.
"Wanda's legacy is not only found in the trophies she won, but in the lives she touched, the friendships she cherished, and the example she set for others to follow."
